The Hub Azul Portugal platform, promoted by FΓ³rum Oceano, was officially mentioned as a reference source in the European Commission's Blue Economy Report 2024, marking a significant milestone for Portugal's position in the European blue economy panorama.
On November 16, the Infante D. Henrique Nautical College (ENIDH) inaugurated the International Maritime Safety Centre (CISM), a project fully funded by the PRR (Recovery and Resilience Plan) under the Hub Azul School programme. The ceremony coincided with the National Maritime Day celebrations, reinforcing the strategic importance of the maritime sector in Portugal.
The inauguration of the International Maritime Security Centre (CISM) at the Infante D. Henrique Nautical College (ENIDH), funded by 100% from the PRR, Hub Azul School programme, took place on 16 November, in celebration of National Maritime Day.
Construction of the Smart Ocean Open Labs building has begun in Peniche, marking a significant step forward for innovation and sustainability in Portugal's blue economy. The self-consecration ceremony took place on 19 July, symbolising the ongoing commitment to sustainable development. This cutting-edge project will create a space dedicated to research, development and incubation of start-ups focussed on the sea and marine resources.
In the context of the World Ocean Summit & Expo 2024, Hub Azul Portugal featured prominently, presenting itself as a leader in the discussion about the future of the blue economy and funding opportunities for sustainable projects. The event, held at the Lisbon Congress Centre, brought together experts, investors and representatives of the blue sector to explore innovations and strategies in financing the blue economy.
