This edition of the Blue Compass – Investment Trends Monitor analyses venture capital activity in the Blue Economy during Q4 2025, highlighting where capital is being channelled, which sectors remain dynamic, and which technologies are shaping the next phase of ocean innovation.
The report shows that, this quarter, investment continues to be increasingly concentrated in certain high-performing value chains, notably Bluetech & Ocean Observation and Shipbuilding & Refit, which together account for more than half of the total cumulative funding in Q4 2025.
The report also examines the sector of Aquacultura, selected as Sector of the Quarter, where investment remains moderate but stable, with a focus on scalable, more sustainable production models geared towards resource efficiency, biosecurity and operational control.
This edition also includes expert views, with a particular focus on João Rito, Founder and CEO of SEAentia, who spoke about the challenges and opportunities of offshore aquaculture, the need to increase aquaculture production in a responsible manner, and the importance of ensuring environmental and social sustainability and animal welfare.
