This edition of the Blue Compass – Investment Trends Monitor analyses venture capital activity in the Blue Economy during Q2 2025, highlighting the sectors that continue to attract investment, the value chains showing signs of a slowdown, and the technologies that are shaping ocean innovation.

The report shows that, this quarter, Bluetech & Ocean Observation remained the most heavily funded sector, having raised €198.3M in Q2 2025, driven by major funding rounds in ocean intelligence, autonomous systems, AI-powered navigation and maritime data platforms.

The report also highlights the dynamism of the Shipping & Ports and Aquaculture sectors, which continue to attract investment in port digitalisation solutions, logistics optimisation, sustainable aquaculture and more efficient production systems. In contrast, Shipbuilding & Refit and Water Management saw a significant slowdown compared with previous quarters.

This edition takes an in-depth look at the Environmental Protection and Regeneration, selected as Sector of the Quarter, analysing the potential of ecological restoration solutions, marine monitoring, coral reef regeneration and impact technologies linked to ocean biodiversity.

It also includes expert views, with a special focus on Sam Teicher, Co-Founder & Chief Reef Officer at Coral Vita, who spoke about the importance of restoring marine ecosystems for food security, climate resilience, coastal protection and economic sustainability.
