The Leixões Blue Hub is a scientific infrastructure, specifically installed in a port area, which will make it possible to make up for the lack of test areas in a relevant environment in the country, strengthening the capacity to develop and test ocean technologies in favour of a more decarbonised and sustainable blue economy in the context of the opportunities arising from the climate and digital transitions at international level.

At the same time, it will also contribute to the development of technologies for monitoring the marine environment, strengthening the management capacity of the respective ecosystems and improving the “health of the oceans”.
