HUB AZUL PORTUGAL STANDS OUT AT THE BLUE WINK-E 2023 CONFERENCE ON FINANCING THE BLUE BIOECONOMY

A Blue Wink-E Conference 2023, organised by the B2E - CoLAB for the Blue Bioeconomy, brought together experts and industry leaders to debate innovative financing strategies, highlighting the importance of sustainability in the blue bioeconomy. The event, held at the Infante D. Henrique Auditorium in Matosinhos, covered the topic extensively “How to finance the blue bioeconomy”.

During the event, the Hub Azul Portugal played a prominent role, with Gonçalo Faria, the project's coordinator, taking part in the round table on “Financial Innovation: Instruments and Strategies”. This session, which also included Filipe Grilo from Porto Business School and João Pereira from Portugal Ventures, explored new approaches and opportunities in financing the blue bioeconomy.

Another highlight was the discussion on “Financing Challenges and Opportunities: Case Studies”, Hermano Rodrigues from Ernst & Young, Tânia Ferreira from Sea4Us and Nuno Mangas from Compete 2030 took part. This session covered real cases and challenges faced by startups and companies in the sector.

The conference also highlighted the space “Blue Connect”, where six innovative start-ups, including Aquaponics Iberia, Fykia Biotech, Bluman, PinkTech, Seaentia e Inclita SeaWeedSolutions, presented pioneering solutions, reflecting the spirit of innovation and sustainability of the blue bioeconomy.

The event was closed by Marta Pontes, Matosinhos City Council Councillor for Economic Activities, who emphasised the municipality's commitment to promoting the economy of the sea, both nationally and internationally.

With the support of Hub Azul Portugal, Blue Wink-E 2023 emphasised the importance of sustainable and innovative financing for the future of the blue bioeconomy, reaffirming Hub Azul's strategic role in promoting and developing this crucial sector.
