The inauguration of International Maritime Safety Centre (CISM), from Infante D. Henrique Nautical College (ENIDH), financed by 100% from PRR funds, Hub Azul School programme, The event took place on 16 November, in celebration of National Maritime Day.
The new International Maritime Safety Centre (CISM) was built on the ENIDH campus and will provide excellent conditions for holding courses in accordance with the STCW Convention - International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, as well as allowing for training “in the applicable areas, in the field of work at height, as well as in the sealing of holes and flooding on ships, essential areas for guaranteeing the safety of the functions and activities carried out on board,” the institution said in a statement.
The CISM will be equipped with equipment certified in accordance with the requirements of the International Maritime Organisation's “Fire Safety System Code” and “Life-Saving Appliances” codes, allowing the same equipment to be used in the training courses as on board ships.
