Blue Wood Hub

The Madeira Blue Hub aims to contribute to the exploitation and valorisation of existing marine resources, to the transfer of R&TD results to companies, to the development of innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, to the attraction of investment and start-ups in the area of the blue economy, to the articulation between existing infrastructures.

Objectives of the Madeira Blue Hub

- Strengthening an ecosystem of innovation and blue entrepreneurship, based on the dynamics of a community of companies, investors, financial institutions, accelerators, among others;
- Realisation of investments, creation and acceleration of companies, business growth, according to the needs of the regional economy and companies;
- Creation of a database on companies, projects, funding and investment opportunities in the blue economy to be made available through a digital platform (Dealroom).

Priority areas

The areas defined as priorities fall within the strategic axes defined by the region for the development of the blue economy.
- Research and technological development of sustainable aquaculture projects;
- Research and development of sustainable projects in the areas of robotics and underwater drones;
- Development of innovation projects to increase the sustainability of the shipping industry;
- Development of innovation projects for greater sustainability of traditional activities such as fishing.
