The Blue Hub is an initiative funded by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Programme (PRR). Its aim is to support the decarbonisation and digital transformation of the blue economy, making the sector more competitive, inclusive and sustainable.

The initiative connects a network of regional innovation hubs in Portugal, bringing together infrastructures, scientific capacities and innovation actors to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the development and expansion of new solutions for the blue economy. The network is coordinated by Hub Azul and its Strategic Management Board, in line with the governance framework of the Portuguese National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030.

The Hub Azul Portugal Network exists to connect and coordinate scientific research, talent training, infrastructure and innovation in a collaborative and flexible way. The aim is to create a nationally and internationally recognised ecosystem where solutions for the blue economy - including applied R&D projects and services for companies - are developed, tested, validated and scaled in a consistent and credible way.
In this way, the Network promotes economic development while ensuring the sustainability, regeneration and preservation of ocean ecosystems.
