At the Brazil National Sustainability Conference 2025 in Vitória, Sérgio Leandro, Director of the Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar (ESTM) at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Hub Azul Peniche – SmartOcean, delivered a strong message:

He emphasized the transformative role of maritime technologies, from IoT sensors and AI for ocean monitoring to marine biotechnology applied in agriculture, highlighting their impact along the entire agri-food chain, from production to packaging.
The Hub Azul Portugal network, with strategic hubs such as SmartOcean Peniche, is positioned as a key infrastructure to accelerate the adoption of these innovative technologies, reinforcing Portugal’s commitment to a sustainable and knowledge-driven blue economy.
