On April of 2025, a delegation from Hub Azul Leixões – Polo I paid an institutional visit to the Centro de Investigación Mariña (CIM) / ECIMAT – Estación de Ciencias Mariñas de Toralla, in Vigo, a leading infrastructure in the field of applied marine research.
Knowledge, best practices and synergies
The visit included a guided tour of the facilities and the biobank, allowing direct contact with the centre’s scientific, technological and laboratory capabilities. This meeting was an important opportunity to present the main lines of work developed by both entities, as well as to identify best practices, synergies and areas of common interest.
During the meetings, avenues for transnational collaboration were also explored, with potential for the development of joint research, innovation and knowledge transfer projects in the field of the Blue Economy.
Iberian cooperation in marine research
This initiative reinforces Hub Azul Leixões – Polo I’s commitment to international cooperation, the sharing of scientific knowledge and the promotion of applied research as a driver for the sustainable development of the maritime sector.
The visit was also highlighted in the local press, reflecting the importance of strengthening links between Portugal and Spain in the field of marine research and blue innovation.
Hub Azul Portugal will continue to promote contact between scientific and technological ecosystems, fostering strategic partnerships that contribute to a more innovative, collaborative, and sustainable Blue Economy.
